Cathy Cloutier weighs in on state pay cuts
By: Associated Press
A Delaware lawmaker says alternatives should be considered to the governor's call for an 8 percent pay cut for state employees.
State Sen. Catherine L. Cloutier says the general consensus from people she has been meeting is that government is top heavy and lawmakers owe it to the taxpayers to look at the upper ranks of government.
The state's largest public employee union, meanwhile, is calling for sliding-scale pay reductions, with those making more taking a larger hit.
State payroll records show nearly 330 people, or about 2.5 percent of those on the state's non-educational payroll, make more than $100,000 a year.
